Why VIV needs your health data

This page explains what health data VIV collects, why we need it, and what you can do with it at any time.

What we're asking you to consent to

When you tick the health data consent box on VIV's first screen, you are giving us permission to collect and use your cycle and health data to generate your personal performance recommendations.

This is different from your general account data (like your email address). Cycle data is classified as sensitive health information under European law — which means we need your explicit, informed agreement before we can collect or use it.

What health data VIV collects

During onboarding and through your ongoing use of the app, VIV collects:

  • Cycle data — your last period date, cycle length, and period length

  • Body metrics — your weight and height

  • Sleep data — your sleep patterns, chronotype, and how recovered you feel when you wake

  • Recovery signals — energy levels, mood, and how demanding your life feels day to day

  • Digestive health — any symptoms like bloating or sensitivity that affect how your body feels

  • Stress and mental state — general indicators of how you're managing stress

  • Check-in responses — what you log each week about how your body is performing

Why we need it

VIV exists to help you perform better by working with your hormonal cycle, not against it. Every recommendation VIV gives you, when to push hard in training, when to prioritise recovery, how to adjust your nutrition, is generated from this data.

Without it, VIV is just a generic app. With it, VIV becomes intelligence that is specific to you.

What we do not do with it

  • We do not sell your health data. Ever.

  • We do not share it with advertisers.

  • We do not use it to make automated decisions that have significant effects on your life.

  • We do not share it with anyone outside our core infrastructure partners (Railway, Neon, Brevo) who help us run the app — and each of those partners is bound by a data processing agreement.

How long we keep it

We keep your health data for as long as your account is active. If you stop using VIV, we keep your data for up to 2 years after your last login — then we'll email you before deleting it.

If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.

You are in control

Your consent is not permanent. You can change your mind at any time.

To withdraw consent: go to Settings → Privacy → Health data processing → turn off.

If you withdraw consent, VIV will no longer be able to generate personalised recommendations for you, since the recommendations depend on your health data. Your account will remain active, but the core features of the app will not function.

To download all your data: Settings → Privacy → Download my data.

To delete your account and all data: Settings → Privacy → Delete my account.
